Beschrijving

The fiber optic crimp splice protector provides a safe and reliable solution for protecting optical fibers after splicing. The fixation is achieved purely mechanically via a precise crimping process, without the need for heat. Thanks to its compact design, the crimp splice protector is perfectly suited for splice cassettes and distribution units where space is limited. The 900 µm secondary coating of the fiber is securely held in place, ensuring long-term protection of the delicate splice point against tensile forces, vibrations, and micro-movements. Its easy handling makes it an ideal solution for field installations, such as in building cabling, FTTH applications, or data centers. These protectors are used to secure fiber splices in 19" distribution panels, floor-standing and wall-mounted enclosures, as well as in fiber optic splice closures. Thanks to their excellent climatic and thermal properties, they are suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor environments. They ensure long-term resistance to crushing, pulling, and puncturing.

Safety notes

  • Vermijd direct contact met lichtbronnen: Glasvezelkabels, vooral die met actieve lichtbronnen zoals lasers (bijvoorbeeld in optische communicatiesystemen), kunnen gevaarlijke straling uitzenden die de
  • ogen kan beschadigen. Kijk nooit rechtstreeks in het licht van een optische vezel, zelfs niet als de lichtbron onzichtbaar is voor het blote oog.
  • Bij het werken met glasvezelkabels, vooral tijdens tests of bij het werken met lasers, moet altijd een veiligheidsbril worden gedragen ter bescherming tegen schadelijke straling.
  • Pak bij het aansluiten en loskoppelen van de kabel alleen de stekker vast en trek niet rechtstreeks aan de kabel.
  • Niet knikken of pletten: Glasvezelkabels zijn gevoelig voor mechanische spanning.
  • Om kabels tegen fysieke schade te beschermen, moeten ze in speciale kabelgoten of met beschermende materialen worden gelegd.
  • Houd kabelconnectors schoon: Glasvezelkabels zijn gevoelig voor stof en vuil. Zelfs kleine deeltjes op de connectoren kunnen de signaalkwaliteit ernstig aantasten.
  • Kabels mogen niet worden gebruikt in omgevingen met extreem hoge of zeer lage temperaturen. Let op de productinformatie over de maximale bedrijfstemperatuur van de kabel.
  • Controleer kabels regelmatig op zichtbare schade zoals scheuren, knikken of tekenen van slijtage. Defecte kabels moeten onmiddellijk worden vervangen.
